A combination of food security concerns and a focus on economic diversification have made agriculture and fisheries an area of priority for government investment in Oman. Agricultural self-sufficiency is one of the main policy goals in the future period as defined by the sector’s primary policy setting body - the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR).
