Antonija is a Special Counsel in SASLO’s Corporate Team.
Antonija is a senior legal professional with 25+ years experience in leading legal firms and corporations. She was admitted as an Attorney in the High Court in South Africa, and Conveyancer in the High Court in South Africa, having also been registered as a Trademark Practitioner. Antonija is also admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales.
Antonija spent 14 years in South Africa as a real estate specialist acting on commercial and corporate transactions; during this time, she advised “The Lakes” developer (Cape Town, South Africa) for 10 years in translating a salt pan into an inland water body and a bird sanctuary around premium residential properties.
Antonija also worked for leading South African law firm Webber Wentzel assisting them in launching their property department in Cape Town.
Thereafter 6 years in Dubai saw her working for Dubai World, Nakheel and IFA Hotels and Resorts on the development of many of the Emirate’s iconic projects including the Palm Jumeirah and the Atlantis development on the Palm. She was also closely involved in ‘The World’ Project, a complex wet development made up of 300 offshore islands.
For the last 7 years Antonija has worked as General Counsel for an Omani Government owned company, Omran, that invests in the development and management of large scale, mixed use hospitality and tourism assets. As General Counsel of Omran, she was responsible for managing exposure to legal risks, instructing external lawyers, advising Omran on all aspects of its commercial operations, drafting, negotiating and reviewing a variety of commercial agreements including hotel management, shareholder, investment/development/property agreements/ leases/ usufructs.
Antonija understands the complexities of mixed use developments from Due Diligence to deal structuring and documentation. Antonija has strong project management skills and is known for her commercial and pragmatic approach. Antonija has in depth knowledge and practical experience in the applicable laws and regulations affecting Omani Government owned companies.
